The project provided and supported know-how transfer for sustainable construction technologies in urban regions of Morocco under the aspect of climate change. The focus was put on the cities of Casablanca and Mar-rakech as two typical demographical and climate regions.

Workshops and practical planning seminars with following subject and specific contents were carried out:

  • Climate-adapted construction planning
  • Regulations of economically sustai-nable construction planning
  • Climate-adapted building techno-logy
  • Aspects of ecological district development

Guidelines and documentation were also developed for the transfer into training structures and as a basis for the training of decision-makers.

The aim was to integrate a qualifi-cation regarding sustainable climate-adapted construction planning in a training profile, and to develop a praxis-oriented guide for selected examples of sustainable construction

planning in Morocco, adapted to the conditions of Morocco and to be used over the long-term.

Main partners of this ppp-project, which was partly financed from the BMZ through the Sequa program were: The Academy of Architecture of Casablanca (EAC) and the UNESCO Chair for clay architecture, building culture and sustainable development (ATCCDD).

In addition, moroccan specialist agen-cies and institutions avec been inclu-ded, whose working context is directly linked to the topic of climate adapted construction, e.g. ADEREE (Agence nationale pour le Développement des Energies Renouvelables et de l’Effica-cité Energétique), as an agency for the development of renewable ener-gies; Majal network (urban agencies initiated from the government to support urban planning authorities); Al Omrane (as a public regional com-pany for social housing construction); Ordre National des Architectes (Natio-nal Association of Architects) with extensive education and information events.
