Open space for the climate (Flexible – mobile – multifonctional – sustainable)

As part of the continuation of the German-Moroccan project "Know- how transfer relative to design of climate-adapted buildings in urban areas", the national academy of archi-tecture of Marrakesh (ENAM) wanted to take part in the COP22 Marrakesh as an active center of sustainability regarding design of climate-adapted buildings.
This brought IPROconsult to design a modular, multifunctional and itinerant "open space for the climate", built from Carlo Bancolini (HORMÊ) in co-operation with the ENAM and presen-
ted according to a specific program in several selected spots in Marrakesh during the COP22.
This space ought to be considered as a demonstration building, showing the benefits of the use and integration of materials and construction techniques with environmental and energy con-cerns. This "hotspot" of climate friend-ly design also aimed at supporting the participative process of planning of the future ENAM campus.
An exhibition about the principles of holistic integrated planning was or-ganised in this temporary space de-
signed according to these same prin-ciples: a versatile and flexible space, adapted to the environment, which stages the interaction between archi-tecture and environment.
This open space can be used interac-tively as a classroom, workshop or ex-hibition center for the ongoing plan-ning process of the future campus. It is moveable, extensible and therefore usable throughout the construction phase of the future ENAM campus.
