Execution period

2017

As part of the expansion of Zhongshan, a new urban area (approx. 44 km2) is planned on the Pearl River Delta. Some urban planning concepts have been made and preferences bidentified from the AG. An ecological evaluation of the planning concepts was required.

The assessment of the environmental impact of the new urban development

is considering the local environmental conditions (status quo), the existing environmental protection goals and the particular context of SLR (Sea Lever Rise) including food, rides and further climate related hazards.

As a result, the environmental impacts (possibly different plan concepts) will be handed over to the AG with the respective recommendations as a

report. This shall be the basis for an implementation and management strategy for the AG (city of Zhongs-han) to be developed with further project partners, so that the control and monitoring of future urban de-velopment can be influenced in a sus-tainable way (control measures, policy recommendations, etc).
